livin' in a modern age where everyone's actions sure seem staged
life in the States it sure moves fast tortoise an’ the hare sit an' watch you pass

well I've been thinkin' about the state of things
how life it just don't seem fair yeah
nature has her way with human beings that’ll
put you back into the square

when we go to the Crescent City
I hope that she’s still standing there
my heart goes out to those whose lives have turned shitty

one day things was goin’ all right wind an’ the rain sent the people in a plight
destruction is a relevant thing but the people are dyin’ if you know what I mean
pay for the war going down in Iraq an' the fuel prices high never gonna fall back
soldiers come FAMC goes New Orleans blows down but no one shows
they all stayed home that day
